Big White’s Ski Season might be approaching it’s close but the snow just keeps coming.
With only two weeks until the ski season closes at Big White Ski Resort, British Columbia Canada, recent snowfall has been plentiful with more expected.
In February the resort enjoyed 145 cm of accumulation and month to date for March some 128 cm of snow has dropped so far providing outstanding spring ski conditions for skiers and boarders alike.
The 2012-13 season has been very kind to Big White, one the best seasons over the last decade and in fact since records have been collated from the 1981-82 season.
As at the 26th March 2013, total snowfall accumulation for the season so far is a massive 780 cm. This season ranks up with the mega years for Big White and the season is yet to finish. Since 1981-82 four seasons have closed with accumulation greater than the present 780 cm so Big White 2012-13 will join this elite group and is likely to record a full season accumulation in excess of 800 cm if annual averages prevail.
While singling out the current season as a bumper for the resort the reality is Big White Ski Resort has an enviable record of high snowfall accumulation every season and the quality of the snow is second to none, anywhere. So called ‘drought’ years are an aberration in relative terms as the snow here is always consistent year in year out.
Its no wonder international guests keep coming back to Big White with the confidence of making long term travel and accommodation commitments, as great snow can always be relied on for their vacation.
