Air Canada has made a welcome announcement with restoring its flight routes to and from the South Pacific. Sydney will benefit from the resumption of ten direct flights each week, from Vancouver from May 1, 2022. Auckland Airport will start hosting three times a week flights from Vancouver from November 12, 2022.

With border restrictions easing, Australian and New Zealand travellers are keen to reunite with family and friends as well as return to popular Canadian year-round tourist destinations.

Boosting Big White tourism

Restoring the connection between Australia and Canada, will see the exciting and long-awaited return of Australian families at Big White in the coming months.

“Air Canada is solidifying its market-leading position as the airline providing the most services between Canada and the South Pacific. We are accelerating the restoration of our Australian and New Zealand routes to respond to pent-up travel between our countries as borders reopen,” said Air Canada’s Mark Galardo.

Air Canada will connect major Australian travel hubs, Sydney and Brisbane to other cities including Melbourne, Canberra, Perth and Cairns through their codeshare partner Virgin Australia, offering seamless flight connections to and from YVR.

Restoring travel confidence

The new refund policy offered by Air Canada will allow Australian travellers to plan their next ski holiday at Big White Ski Resort. It provides the confidence of a full flight refund or Air Canada travel voucher with a 65% bonus should the airline cancel or reschedule a flight by more than three hours.

From May 1, Air Canada’s five-day-a-week service from Vancouver to Sydney will upgrade to daily services. AC33 will depart Vancouver at 23:15 for the 15-and-a-half hour trek down to Sydney, arriving there at 07:45 two days later. The return flight, AC34, leaves Sydney at 09:30 and lands in Vancouver at 07:10 on the same day. Air Canada will use a Boeing 777-200LR jet on their YVR – SYD run.
